CASE STUDY: “Look At You”
A high-concept brand anthem for Manifesto, starring 3x Olympic Medalist Aaron Brown.
The Strategy
To bypass traditional "hyper-masculine" sports tropes by utilizing the Mirror Neuron Effect and Narrative Transportation to highlight the emotional stakes of elite performance.
The Blueprint: Psychological Triggers in Action
Trigger: Narrative Transportation (The "Tunnel Vision" Opening): The film opens with an audible "boom" and a 65mm slow-motion shot of Aaron staring down the lane. This creates instant immersion, pulling the viewer into Aaron's focused mental state before a single word is spoken.
Trigger: Mirror Neuron Effect (The "Sweat & Effort" Close-ups): By capturing the "CU of a bead of sweat" and the tension of hitting the sprint "hard as eff", we trigger a physiological response in the viewer. They don't just see the effort; they feel it.
Trigger: The Peak-End Rule (The Emotional Crescendo): The "Peak" isn't the race—it's the intimate moment of Aaron helping his son, Kingsley, lace up his shoes. The "End" resolves with Aaron placing a medal on his son, saying "Look at you! You did it!". This ensures the brand is associated with the reward of effort, not just the labor.
Behind the Craft: Technical Sophistication & Visual Texture
To achieve a level of "Processing Fluency" that commands attention, White Raven deployed a crew of 18 and a bespoke technical stack designed to bridge the gap between Olympic intensity and domestic intimacy.
The Multi-Sensor Strategy (RED x Ember): We utilized the RED Komodo for its global shutter and exceptional color science during the narrative sequences. To capture the "Internal Drive" of a sub-10s sprinter, we paired it with the Freefly Ember. This allowed us to capture continuous high-speed 5K footage, freezing Aaron Brown’s mechanics in a way the human eye cannot perceive, triggering a state of "Narrative Transportation" through visual awe.
The Atlas Anamorphic Edge: To give the film a "Legacy" feel rather than a "Broadcast" look, we utilized the Atlas Anamorphic Lens Kit. The characteristic horizontal flares and oval bokeh provided a "65mm equivalent" depth of field. This specific optical texture communicates "Premium Content" to the viewer’s subconscious, immediately separating the Manifesto anthem from standard digital ads.
Directorial Continuity: The challenge lay in maintaining a cohesive visual language between the high-octane "Olympic Flashes" and the quiet, low-light "Living Room" setting. By maintaining the Anamorphic profile across both environments, we ensured that the father-son motif felt just as "heroic" as the Olympic stadium, reinforcing the brand's core belief in the power of legacy.
